Games & Other Pastimes
Games and various other pastimes often fill spaces in the day for all ages from the most toddling of Sparks to the most tottering of Embers. Card games, board games, running games, thinking games, puzzles of various sorts, 4-Square, horseshoes, reading, Stunt Night, the Sales Table Auction, ping pong, and even tightrope walking are all represented on this page... and that's all only a small part of the fun and relaxation that you'll see here!

"1-Word Story"
Spark Games: playing 1-Word Story. It's a group storytelling game in which each player in turn says the next word (yes, just 1 word!) of the story. Hilarious! You never know what might happen or where the story will end up. This one involved bears, butterflies, an octopus, and pickles.

"Grumpy's Island"
This is a new camp favorite. "Grumpy" stays inside the island (rope circle) while the rest of the players line up at one end of the field. All players must tag inside the circle with their foot on their way across the field without getting tagged by Grumpy. Easy at the beginning, but tagged players join Grumpy, so it gets harder and harder as the game progresses.
"Mao"
The rules are purposely designed to just mess you up. And the winner of each round gets to make up a new rule!

"Lawn Tennis at the FNCA"
The original plans for the Assembly (which have hung in the Dole Wing for decades) include grass tennis courts on the back field. Here's a foursome playing, with Starks Hill in the background. You may not be be able to tell from the picture at this size, but Route 302 going by just beyond the row of bushes and small trees on the other side of the tennis court is a dirt road!
